We hire transcribers from anywhere in the world.
What experience/skills do I need to get started?
We require transcribers to have a strong command of the English language, its syntactical and grammatical rules; to be able to recognize American English accents/speech; and, to have a decent typing speed.
What equipment do I need to get started?
You don’t need any special equipment. What you do need: a reasonable computer with Google Chrome and a reliable internet connection.
What are the maximum/minimum number of hours I can work?
TranscribeMe does not have a maximum or a minimum number of hours that you have to work. The beauty of our system is that you can work as little, or as much as you want! As long as there is work available on the WorkHub you are free to take it, and you can take a break whenever you want.
What if I’m looking for a part-time or full-time role?
The wonderful thing about TranscribeMe is the amount of time you would like to work. You can work full-time or part-time as long as there are files available.
How much do I get paid?
Transcribers are paid US $20 per audio hour for general transcription, although different projects and specializations may offer higher rates. Please note that this figure (“per audio hour”) pertains to the length of audio transcribed as opposed to the length of time taken to transcribe the audio.
When / how will I get paid?
Transcribers can request payment withdrawals through PayPal weekly.
What other opportunities are available for transcribers?
Transcribers also have the chance to become QA (Quality Assurance) agents, responsible for consolidating, proofreading and editing transcriptions. There are also further specializations, such as special project teams and captioning transcription teams. These other opportunities often entail different, greater, pay scales than our standard transcription rate
